This may be one of my all time favorite looks. I’ve been hanging on to this wrap dress for weeks now just waiting for the weather to allow it’s debut. Luckily for me, Friday night at Charleston Fashion Week was the perfect occasion. As cold and chilly as Thursday night was under the tents, Friday was equally perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for shooting, exploring the city and of course another night of fashion week.
As I mentioned in my previous post, my fashion week trip was shorter than years past so I made sure I made the most of my time there. In addition to shooting tons of outfits on Rainbow Row, I started my morning with Creative Mornings Charleston. We have Creative Mornings in Charlotte (and they are in a ton of cities) but I’ve just never been able to make it work with my schedule. Since it was fashion week, the theme was courage and the speakers were Pauline Sokol Nakios and Elliot Carlyle. I first met Pauling in Chicago at the Blog Societies conference last August so it was so great to reconnect and see her again. She is a total boss and runs two companies: Lilla P and Leo & Sage. Elliot is the executive assistant to Fern Mallis and is so down to earth. I really enjoyed his candid & comedic conversation about how every experience is valuable. I have had several positions and worked for a few different companies during my career in fashion and each and every experience has taught me and prepared me for the next. It is always energizing to hear this affirmation no matter where you are in your career.
After Creative Mornings, I walked a few blocks further down King St to the Julep Secret Garden Party and did a little shopping before heading out to Sullivan’s Island for one of my favorite lunch spots and to sneak a peek at the beach. It was a jam packed day but so enjoyable. Before I knew it, it was time to get ready for another exciting night of fashion and people watching. This wrap dress was a total dream to wear. It is super comfy yet chic at the same time. The fullness of the top part of this wrap dress is what really caught my attention. I loved how it gave that casual cool oversized vibe but still kept it femininity. I started playing around with styling while I was packing and it was a no-brainer for me to go back to my favorite pink.
I love getting the most out of my purchases so I brought out my Garb clutch I got from a Charleston vendor my first year at CFW. It was such a great purchase and one that, while I love it, I am surprised at just how many times I have used it. You know I’m a sucker for pom heels so when I found these sweet pink ones, I had to snatch them. They are super affordable too (under $50!) and come in four colors. Statement earrings and an electric pink lip were just what the look needed to be complete. I can’t obsess over this dress enough. I feel like I say this about a lot of dresses, but it really is versatile. I can’t wait to style it with some mega sneaks and a slouchy tote for a cool weekend / vacay look.
Speaking of weekends, what do you guys have planned?! Wes and I are heading to Greensboro for some family time and Easter festivities. Hope y’all have a safe and happy Easter! XO
