After years of hesitation and holding out, I finally made the decision to purchase an Apple watch. Here are my reasons why.
SheIn lace top. Top Shop leopard skirt. Golden Goose sneakers also love these. YSL bag. J.Crew belt. Madewell headband
I have been a dedicated Apple user since I got my first computer after high school graduation. I am a firm believer their computers and phones are worth the price and are far superior to their competitors when it comes to quality. I’m also a believer that you shouldn’t buy the latest and greatest thing just to have it. For me, a computer and a smartphone met all of my needs. I held off from buying an Apple watch because I didn’t need to have everything on my wrist when I had it all in the palm of my hand… until now.
Becoming a mom has brought so many changes to my life; some joyful and some that were harder and took a little longer to accept, but all totally worth it. Wes and I agree and are standing firm on our no screen time for Wally. For the most part, it has been an easy adjustment, but as of late, Wally is becoming more and more aware and is super into everything that we are doing. Since I work from home and have the company’s calls forwarded to my cell phone, I have to have it on me at all times. The combination of Wally’s awareness and my need to work has gotten super hard to balance… enter the Apple Watch. I took a poll on my Instagram stories a while back to figure out how moms and current watch owners were utilizing the features and if it helped them to be hands-free and minimize screen time. I got an overwhelming amount of responses that supported my theory that the watch would make working mom life a little easier so I finally gave in. It didn’t hurt that my old leather watch was literally falling apart at the seams.
It has been a crazy adjustment because I am still very aware of my phone – it’s a hard habit to break when so much of my blog work is done on my phone apps (canva, Instagram, lightroom, and liketoknow.it)! But I have to say that I am happier to be spending more quality time with Wally and love being more in the moment. I don’t want him growing up thinking that anything on or about a smartphone is more important than he is. I am a work in progress, but I try to save all my Instagram and liketoknow.it time for when he is sleeping and only hop on the computer when a work call comes in and a client needs to be scheduled for HVAC service – everything else can wait until naptime. Once the call is over, it’s back to playtime.
Like I said before, my kid is smart and very aware of everything around him so he has definitely noticed that mommy is wearing a “screen” on her arm every day and he knows exactly where to go and which sleeve to push up to get to it. Luckily, I have a dark face on it and it doesn’t light up very much so he will tap on it for a few seconds then quickly lose interest if he doesn’t hit anything. Overall, it was a good purchase for me and I am confident I waited til the right time.
