Some days I feel like all we have to talk about is the weather. I’ve been trying to work in some fall pieces and sweaters but the up and down in temps makes it so hard.  Luckily, layering is good for that and my sherpa vest is one of my favorite layering pieces.

I also love the neutral sherpa vest because it lightens and breaks up the tones of the denim jacket on denim skinnies. I really like the Canadian tuxedo look and have seen it done really well by others but still feel awkward sometimes  (You may remember this post from over a year ago – not much has changed!) so throwing in a dose of neutrals in different textures makes me feel a little more comfortable with it. I find that adding a variety of textures to an outfit is a good formula for me in general. I don’t know about you guys but I have strong outfit game in the Fall, but the colder it gets, the lazier I get. It’s so easy for me to fall into the habit of leggings or skinnies and a chunky sweater. Layering and adding in those different feels elevates my formula and at least looks like I put more effort into it. A sherpa vest or sherpa anything is the new and fresh way to layer up this season, but I still really love this lace top. It’s not new (but still in stock) but still a great piece and I probably wear this top more than any of my other ones. Maybe it’s because I’m Southern or just raised with a traditional style that I love lace so much but it instantly adds a polished and chic feminine feel to anything – even if you add edgier elements. So, if you’re looking for two really great staples this season I say go for the lace top and sherpa vest! They are good alone and great together and will take a little stress out of your Monday outfit panic. Now, if someone could take my “going back to work tomorrow” panic away we would be all set!
