Happy pre-Friday everyone!! It’s spring break the next two weeks here in the Charlotte area. And while I’m too old for all that, I do enjoy the traffic relief in the mornings and it’s almost just as good… almost! While all of us grown-ups may not be taking our beach trips just yet, I thought I’d share a little of my impromptu Charleston trip from two weekends ago. It was only for one night, but I knew in a packing whirlwind that I wasn’t leaving home without my go-to ruffle one shoulder top.
As I mentioned, the trip was totally spontaneous. I was actually hosting a baby shower that Saturday morning and as soon as the clean up was done, we packed a bag (the fastest and lightest one I have ever packed) and got on the road. We did some shopping, ate amazing food at Hank’s Seafood (highly recommend it!!), wandered around downtown and eventually made our way out to Sullivan’s Island for some time on the beach and more food (Poe’s Tavern is our fave!).
It is easily one of the best trips we have taken. We had no real plan or agenda to stick to and the spontaneity made it that much more fun. It was kind of our big celebration in a way. I haven’t talked much about it, but if you follow my insta stories you may have seen me down and out and limited to the couch. Last week I had to have an outpatient foot surgery and I have been immobile ever since. It has been the most painful experience but I’m getting a little better each day and just keep looking forward to our next beach trip (it’s keeping me positive). We also used the trip to celebrate Wes’s 30th birthday this month. We both love the beach and knowing that I was still going to be semi-worthless on his actual birthday, we took the opportunity to celebrate early!
So with all that being said, I knew I wanted to pack realistically for only one night but still look good for our celebratory trip! This ruffle one shoulder top was a no brainer! I love the crisp clean vibe of the white and it is effortlessly chic! I have worn it so many times and will continue to do so this season so stay tuned for more ways to wear. For our casual beach day I opted for my new fave step hem jeans. They are SO SO SO comfy, have the best fit and are super cute. I have worn them non-stop too! Wes rarely comments on my outfit choices, but he even said how much he loved them. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve linked up my look and some of my other faves below. Right now, I’m really feeling the one shoulder more than the off should and it’s my current fave spring outfit formula.
I hope you guys have a great weekend and a very happy Easter! Wes’s actual birthday is tomorrow so we will be in Greensboro with his family celebrating and having our annual Easter egg hunt with the cousins (and no- you’re never too old for an egg hunt!!).
