Happy February friends! I’m excited to share this year’s first #RHentertains tablescape for Valentine’s Day. I’ve teamed up with my gal pal and fellow tabletop enthusiast Kristel from the Stylin Brunette to share how we used our personal collections of rose medallion plates to create a Valentine’s Day inspired tablescape.

Valentine’s Day Tablescape with Rose Medallion
Before I dive into table talk, I just want to say that I feel like the year can finally begin now that January is over. Does anyone else feel like January is the longest, least enjoyable month out of the year? It is cold, uneventful, dry and dreary and I, for one, believe those 31 days feel like 100. For multiple reasons, I’m excited to welcome a new and exciting month full of pink and love. I’m so into Galentine’s Day and Valentine’s Day and all the pink things that I’ve put together so much content for you guys, starting with this year’s first #RHentertains tablescape.

As I mentioned at the beginning, Kristel and I are sharing how we used our personal collections (hers more robust than mine) of rose medallion plates to create a Vday inspired tablescape. While we both share a love for entertaining and tabletop items, she’s the expert at vintage and antique china and totally got me hooked. First, it was her tobacco leaf china. She posted a set of plates she recently purchased and I was drooling. Then she posted some rose medallion plates I couldn’t stop thinking about and I just had to get the scoop. I knew I wanted to get in on these beauties but knew nothing about pattern names or styles. She was all too kind and willing to help me start my hunting by providing sites, listings, and links to sets she thought I would like. Before I knew it, I had my first (and currently only) set of rose medallion plates. As soon as they were delivered, we decided we had to join forces and give y’all all the vintage, chinoiserie, and girly inspiration we could.
I’m not ashamed to admit this table was hard for me. There was something about the vintage/ antique element of the rose medallion plates that really threw me off and completely out of my comfort zone. True to form, I planned my inspiration and mood board for the table and the shoot well in advance. Even though I was happy with the colorful vibe and balance of new and old on the board, I just couldn’t seem to execute the vision. I struggled for weeks trying to figure out the disconnect and finally realized that I was trying to make it into something that wasn’t me. I finally let go of the pressure and expectations I didn’t realize I had put on myself and decided to let my natural style come through. I’ve never tailored myself to fit a certain style but selected things that represented who I am both in fashion and in table fashion.
Once I did that, I pulled out all the colorful things from my arsenal and began to play. I hope you love how this fab rose medallion table turned out as much as I do. It isn’t a traditional Valentine’s Day tablescape but it’s equal parts fun, romantic and playful, and not too serious at all.
