We are basically down to one week til Thanksgiving and I can hardly believe it! I feel like I have so much to do and absolutely no days to get it done! Let me elaborate for a second: In my family, all the married women have meal responsibilities for all major holidays. The menu is divided among us so no one person is overwhelmed or burdened and can still enjoy the day of celebration. Somehow, for my first two years of marriage I have been without responsibilities. I think it’s mostly because my mom and I count ourselves as one and we are really good about dividing and conquering anything that falls on her plate. Welllll fun time is over and I’m officially in the big girls club. I have my own dishes to worry about including but not limited to: eggs (because I forgot to mention we start Turkey day with a full breakfast / brunch spread), french bread casserole (i’m going to try and post this recipe later this week because it’s phenomenal!!!), and hot chocolate.

Add all that to baby shower planning, work travel, hockey games and regular work and blogging as usual and you can see why I’m needing a few more hours tacked on to each day. Luckily, the one thing that is super easy for me is dressing for all of our meals and events. Our families are super casual and never focus on any type of formalities so it’s easy to throw on something comfortable, warm and stretchy so we can focus on the fellowship and time together.

Today’s Thanksgiving outfit inspo is one of my all time favorites! I’m not usually a fan of red. I just don’t really consider it one of my good colors. For some reason this year I am particularly drawn to it. This flannel button up top is super soft and is a great way to add in red without feeling like a bright cherry. Keep it simple with some high rise jeans and layer on a plushy sherpa vest for casual warmth. You’ll look put together with the third piece but wont have to deal with the shoulder restraints of a jacket or blazer. You can’t see them but I threw on my new duck boots to give it an authentic outdoorsy feel.
