Summer is just getting warmed up but fashion girls (myself included) are already looking ahead to Fall fashion and planning their winter wardrobes. What better way to get a head start on Fall than with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? We’re still 10 days away from cardholders early access (July 12th), but it’s just the right time to start planning your strategy. I know from experience, if you aren’t prepared, your favorite items will sell out fast and it’s anyone’s guess if or when they will be restocked. I say, better safe than sorry so I’m sharing my strategy and a few items I’ve got my eye on this year.

Stick to Key Categories

There are a wide variety of items available during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but not all are worthy of your time. Stick to the key categories and larger ticket items for the season. This is the time to pick out your new boots, coat and a few sweaters you love. It’s also a good time to get that investment handbag you’ve had your eye on. Sometimes I find other great items along the way but try not to focus too much time on them. I opt to stock up on the lighter layers and other accessory pieces closer to the season.

Coats & Jackets

There is always a great selection of coats and jackets. I picked up my go-to moto jacket two years ago and have really gotten my money’s worth. A good moto jacket is a wardrobe staple and never goes out of style. BlankNYC always has a great selection of leather and suede options in the prettiest colors. They have been included in the sale the past few years so I would expect the same for this year. There are several trendier coats in the catalog this year I am considering. Since I live in the South, I shop conservatively on true cold weather wear but usually pick up one trend piece of outerwear each year to spruce up my wardrobe.

Boots & Shoes

I’m a sucker for boots. Tall, short, embellished or colored, I love them all. They are so chic and fabulous and add so much to any Fall outfit. I love seeing the new iterations each year and have to restrain myself from going crazy. Some styles to watch this year are the studded and western influenced boots. Over the knee boots are a must. If you don’t have a pair I suggest snagging those while they are on sale.

Handbags

I love playing with handbags in the Fall. I love brights and Summer shades but there’s something about the luxe, rich tones of Fall that really excite me. With baby Reese on the way, I’ve got my eye on all the backpacks and handsfree options to make life with little man easier. The woven detail and mix of olive and black make it versatile yet chic. Since I do love to keep things light, I also really love this polka dot satchel. It comes with a cross body strap so this mama can keep her hands free to juggle everything else.
