Happy Hour No. 4 // Spring Trends

Happy Hour No. 4 // Spring Trends - Reese's Hardwear

Boy am I glad it’s almost the weekend! Is it me or has it been a week!?!? This week I felt a lot like I was drowning in things to do. There is so much work to be done for RH, family business, the house and of course taking care of little man, Luckily, It snowed Tuesday so I was forced to stay in and get things done. But enough about the week, unless you want to vent, then go for it girlfriend. Vent your heart out in the comments. I’ll read them all and help if I can. But on a happier note, let’s chat about what y’all want to know and this week’s question about Spring trends.

Question:

What Spring trends are you most excited about?

Answer:

That’s a tough one! There are so many great Spring trends this year that really speak to my personal taste & style and several I really want to experiment with. I try to keep an open mind when it comes to fashion so both trend buckets (ones I love and new experimental ones) really get me excited. I’d have to say for things I love, I’m really excited to see polka dots making a come back in super chic ways. I’ve been styling them for a few seasons now but continue to add fresh and colorful iterations of the print to my wardrobe. I’m also loving the color blocking trend. Earlier this week, I wrote a little about my love for accessories. In accessory trends, I am really loving the headbands. I’ve always wanted a Blair Waldorf collection of headbands and this just might be my year. I’ve got my eye on several fab styles like this pearl one, this sparkly one and this gingham one.

When it comes to new trends I want to experiment with, I’m really excited about Bermuda shorts, biker shorts and patterned suits. I’ll definitely be sporting the suit trend. It’s not something I wear very often but I really love them and all the bright colors and patterns that are available right now. The short trends are def outside my comfort zone because I’m very self conscious about my lower half. However, I am so intrigued by the trends and curious to how it will work on me so I’m going to experiment. If it’s not a total train wreck, or if it is, I’ll be sharing it on here for yall!  Cheers!

Cocktail Crush

Blood Orange & Bourbon – Photo: Love & Lemons

Could this drink be any prettier? The rich red and orange shades scream Summer and the orange slice just adds that perfect touch. I love oranges and any kind of citrus drinks so this one is a fave. It’s also super easy to make. I hate it when I feel like I have to work extra hard for my cocktail, don’t you?!

INGREDIENTS:

  • ½ cup freshly squeezed blood orange juice (strain the pulp if you wish)
  • 3-5 tablespoons bourbon (depends on how boozy you want it)
  • 2-3 drops of Angostura bitters
  • splash of sparkling water
  • orange slices & sprigs of mint, for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Mix & serve!
  2. (Alternatively, omit the sparkling water, shake everything in a cocktail shaker with ice and serve in a rocks glass).
