I’ll be totally honest, when I first planned this shoot and the idea of an Easter picnic, I had no idea it would become one of the few ways we get to celebrate Easter this year. The coronavirus has impacted us all in ways we never imagined and has forced us to adjust to a new normal.

Holiday celebrations of late may look a little different, but that’s ok. This shouldn’t be a time of depression and fear, rather, a time of creativity and innovation. I for one am constantly inspired by all the ways I have seen individuals, families, sports and small businesses find innovative ways to get through all of this. I think we can all agree that this coronavirus situation is far from ideal, but one has to admit that this time has brought a lot of good ideas and some exciting change to the table. One thing I am happy about is that this has forced us all to get outside more. I love this time of year and am especially grateful it has been so warm and sunny through most of our quarantine.
If you cannot gather for Easter with your family in a traditional sense this year, an Easter picnic may be a great way for your family to celebrate in a new and exciting way.
I’m excited to partner with a favorite blanket brand, Chappy Wrap, to show y’all how I planned and put together my Easter Picnic. My family and I have been fans of Chappy Wrap for a long time now. Their blankets are so big and so cozy. Wally is obsessed with how soft they are and has to have one in every room. My favorite thing about them is how they are great in different places and settings. You can take them to the beach, the table, the back yard or your living room for movie night. They are also machine washable so they are easy to clean.
Setting the Scene
For the Easter picnic, I chose Chappy Wrap blankets in my three favorite Spring patterns: the hydrangeas, herringbone, and scallop. The shades of blue compliment each other perfectly and work into our home decor so they can be used as decoration when they aren’t be used. I pulled these fabulous greenery placemats from my collection and threw in some fun twine carrots for an Easter vibe. Since stores have been closed, we’ve been under self-quarantine for a while, and most of us will need to make due with what we have on hand, I didn’t worry too much about it being themed this year. The decorations are minimal compared to last year’s Easter brunch but it’s still gorgeous, cozy and full of Spring and Easter colors.
The Spread
Since the crowd is a little smaller this year, I opted for a smaller & lighter menu. For a daytime Easter picnic, you don’t need much. I gathered some of our favorite snacks and lunch items and filled in with a few things at one of my precious grocery runs. Here’s the spread I put together. Some other ideas for a great picnic basket include your favorite sandwiches, other dips or personal meals that are easy to carry out and eat. I’d take a personal-sized baked ziti or a pizza.

The Giveaway
I look forward to the day I can gather with friends and return to my normal level of entertaining, but for now, I’m choosing to seek the positives in every situation and have peace knowing that God is in control of this and every situation. I am also choosing to bring as much joy and excitement to you as possible during this time by hosting as many giveaways as possible.
