Rise and shine y’all. Doesn’t it feel like school just let out and Summer just got started? By mid to late August I always find myself in a struggle of wanting to hang on to Summer but kind of wishing for Fall. All you fellow Southern ladies know that just because the calendar says Fall, doesn’t mean the thermometer will. We can easily get away with shorts, sandals and dresses well into September before we catch a break. To satisfy my early Fall cravings I’m taking a look back at some transitional looks and put together some of my early fall must haves from four of my favorite forecasted trends. I loved taking a scroll down memory lane and hope you’re inspired by old looks or new early Fall styles. XO
Blazers
It may be a result of all my days working at J.Crew, but I really love a good blazer. There is no better topper for an outfit that looks as chic and polished as a well tailored blazer. Luckily for all of us, the 80s are having a major moment and there are so many amazing options from bold colors to dramatic shoulders and fabrications. I recently purchased this under $100 polka dot blazer to work into my normal assortment of solids. It’s just one of those pieces you can literally wear with anything: Jeans, dresses or shorts.
Boots
I think it goes without saying, boots are the staple of Fall. I’m really enjoying the creativity in footwear right now. Except for Fall 2017, the boot scene has felt monotonous and basic. I love the vibrant colors and major drama that OTK styles are coming in this season. Below are some of my favorite boots that have carried me through several years. I highly recommend investing in black and grey then playing lightly with trendier colors and silhouettes. Ankle booties are still in heavy rotation for me but when I need inspiration or extra confidence, these are my go-to boots made for anything but walking!
Red
For me, red is the unofficial color of Fall. The season starts with crimson and wine shades for Fall and football then graduates to the brighter, more crisp holiday shades. More than any other color, red is consistent
Animal Print
Obviously I have a soft spot – err obsession – with leopard print. (Check out this post if you don’t believe me.) It is my favorite of all the animal kingdom but not the only one. This Fall you can spice up your wardrobe with touches of any animal print for a fierce, yet chic look. I don’t think leopard ever goes out of style and 100% consider it a neutral that goes with everything.Just be careful not to over do it. I tend to opt for accessories, shoes and non-committal pieces like sweaters and cardigans to fill my animal urges.
