As I am sitting here typing this, the song “Blue Jean Baby” keeps playing in my head over and over and you know what? I am not even ashamed. I have been on the denim skirt bandwagon for at least a year now and I love them. I have two and I resist the urge to buy more when I see one that catches my eye. There are so many good ones! I mean, fringe hem, asymmetrical hem, mega ruffle, destruction, I could go on and on. If I’m being honest with myself, I will probably get a white one before the Summer is over. Stay tuned for that!
I’m going to have a real girl moment with you guys today. The reason I love skirts so much is because of my legs. I have always had somewhat thicker thighs and would categorize my body type as bottom heavy. I wouldn’t say I hate my thighs, but I would say that I am very aware of them. Meaning: when I pick out shorts or put them on, I am aware that my lack of thigh gap will make them ride up or not be as comfortable. Don’t get me wrong, I love shorts and I’m not body shaming anything, but I say all that to say that I have insecurities (who doesn’t) and a fabulous denim skirt is a great alternative in warmer temps. It is a short length but still casual and super fun to style.
You’ve probably heard be talk about my outfit formulas here and there. This one is definitely a formula for Summer. I really liked this ruffle tee with the metallic gold pinstripe because it elevates the classic tee silhouette. With extra feminine details and a fabulous pair of python heels, you could wear a denim skirt to work, on a date or to happy hour with girlfriends. Swap it out for a tank or a white tee and chic slides and voila! you’re laid back and cool for shopping.
What are yall’s thoughts? Shorts or skirts?

Love this look, it reminds me of boho style. Love the shirt and the way you team it with a denim skirt and snakeskin booties. The gold braided belt looks awesome! I also made a post on ways how to make boho look.
Best,
