In my early days of working in fashion and retail, my team and I had this “thing” with camouflage. It was out there but not exactly trending. We loved it, so we created “Camo Tuesdays”. I’m pretty excited that camo is trending again this Fall. I don’t hunt and have no military affiliation but for some reason I really like pops of camo pieces in my wardrobe – including this faux leather camo skirt.
I’ve had this camo skirt for a few years now but never get tired of pulling it out year after year. I also never get tired of pieces that have current appeal year after year. My whole look (minus the shades) was purchased last year or even two years ago and re-purposed to fit this year’s trends and my current style. Either I was ahead of the curve or these trends are just too good but everything is still available and re-stocked for the current season. I mostly live in jeans and am definitely a true denim girl but like to switch it up every once in a while. I have found a good formula in the mini skirt with an oversized top that tones down the skirt. As I mentioned in my post a few weeks ago, I’m really having a Free People moment and am really loving all of their sweaters this season. Each one is chunky, soft and pairs perfectly with all sorts of seasonal bottoms – (stay tuned for my pumpkin spice colored sweater with moto leggings). I also love a fun pair of sneakers to add some flair. I was kind of on the fence about these pom sneakers but was talked into them by a girlfriend at a Sam Edelman event. Girlfriend was right and I love these kicks. They are also one of the few pairs of shoes I can wear post-op. I lived in them in April and am planning on wearing them out again in November once I shake the dreaded boot (you may remember it’s first appearance here). It seems like everyone has made their own version of this shoe lately but I stand by the Sam Edelman ones because of their supreme comfort and fabulous blush color. They are pretty seasonless and totally work for me year round.
Another favorite piece I love when I’m on the go is a great cross body bag. In honor of national handbag day, I am spotlighting this Merlot beauty. It has great space and the perfect pockets so I can get to my phone and necessities with ease and minimal digging. I hated putting it away for the summer but am pretty excited about breaking it out now that it is officially fall! I really love all the fall shades but this wine / Merlot color has to be my favorite. It pairs so beautifully with navy, black and olive while adding a subtle pop of color to an otherwise neutral look.
What are your Trend Tuesday favorites?
I’m thinking next week will be #LeopardTuesday due to my limited assortment of camo items.
