The Best Fall Coats for Any Budget

One of my favorite things to shop for this time of year is a great coat. Coats are a great way to add color, patter, texture and more style to a look. I really like matching my coat to my outfit; even though it’s not always practical or doable. Part of my strategy for attaining such an ideal coat collection is to add a new style or color each year.  I am constantly drawn to the more colorful or patterned coats but find great value in a good neutral that can be worn with anything or a quilted puffer that keeps you warm no matter what.

Because I love all kinds of coats, it is really hard to pick “the one” each year. This year is especially hard because there are so many great styles out there. I am particularly leaning toward the plush and plaid styles. The teddy coat is definitely a favorite because of its soft and cuddly hand. It also comes in just about every color imaginable which only adds to my stress of selecting. There are also softer plush styles and faux fur options that would make any outfit pop. I could go on and on but you get the picture. In attempts to lessen your stress of selecting a great coat this year, I’ve rounded up several of my favorite styles and organized them into the key coat trends I’m seeing this year.

one – this navy ground plaid is gorgeous! I love the warm pop of pink in the pattern and the classic look of the silhouette. This one would look great paired with a dark skinny jean and pumps or a flowing feminine dress

two – color obsessed! This blue is so stunning I just can’t help but love it. The less tailored fit is great for layering and draping over your shoulders if it ins’t too cold.

three – as classic as it comes. This wrap top coat is so gorgeous and has an extra touch of class with contrasting white tipping. This is one of those styles that would go with everything and be so chic.

four – the belt and faux fur trim on this puffer instantly drew me in. Puffers can often look bulky and unflattering but the belt on this one adds shape and defines the waist. The deep blue color is also a fresh alternative to all the black styles out there.

five – I really try to keep my Fall wardrobe from getting too dark. I love black and darker shades, but always feel more confident and happy when I am in lighter, brighter colors. This white ground yellow plaid coat is a great way to keep your looks light and fresh with still playing with color and pattern.

six –  the banded sleeves on this teddy coat give the sleeves a fullness you don’t normally see in a coat. I love the added volume and the rusty brown color of this coat. It’s just saturated enough to add color but still act as a neutral for your wardrobe.

seven – hello sunshine! how can you not be so happy in this coat? While it may not go with everything, yellow plays well with so many of the key fall hues (rust, olive, navy, wine, orange, emerald) and is guaranteed to be more versatile than you think. This solid style is great for topping off a color block look or balancing a full print look.

eight –  another great puffer. The olive color drew me in on this one along with the faux fur detail around the stand collar. There are so many possibilities with this coat as I consider olive a fall neutral and pair it back to cream, black, brown and all the saturated colors.

nine – pink is always in heavy rotation for me so naturally I love this light pink plaid option. The faux fur collar adds a luxe touch and is a gorgeous shade of mauve.

ten – like the blue in option 2, this teddy coat is all about the color and screams fun. Layer it over your favorite pattern (think dots, plaid or animal print) for a playful look.

eleven –  this may be one of my favorite styles! In addition to the great price, it has a short mohair texture that is so stunning.

twelve –  I clearly have a thing for this faux fur detail. This coat is a more sporty option and is so crisp and chic in off white. Pair it with jeans and boots for a cool weekend getaway look.
