Nursery Inspiration
When we found out we were having a baby, I knew I wanted the nursery to incorporate as much color as possible without it being overwhelming. Whether it was a boy or girl, I knew I wanted a classic yet playful vibe in either blue or pink. I’ve never really been a “themed” room person and knew having a baby wouldn’t change that. When we found it was a boy, I briefly toyed with the idea of throwing in nautical things for that kind of vibe but never really fell in love with the idea. I printed out several images from pinterest and started a mood board that I kept adding and subtracting from til I finally narrowed it down to these six images. I love each room’s use of full on color and pattern and they are exactly what I envisioned our boy’s nursery being. I also love all the really unique touches in each room like unique lighting, dramatic drapes and funky prints. I’m particularly in love with the sketched blue animal printed fabric on the last row. I’m thinking that will make a great accent pillow for the chair.
What I’m Buying
So far, I’ve managed to decide on a paint color: Sherwin Williams Something Blue. Thanks to everyone that voted on my instagram stories and helped pick a color. It was so hard choosing just the right shade. We also had a vintage rocker we inherited from Wes’s grandmother that I had recovered in a fabulous blue printed fabric so it adds some depth and pattern to the room. I bought a changing table / dresser and a crib, but forgot the mattress – incredibly dumb I know! I feel like it’s starting to come together but still need the finishing touches. I’ve got my eye on several of the items below and slowly adding to cart as we figure out space and where things are going to live. If anyone knows where I can get a pineapple chandelier similar to the one shown above please let me know!! I am on the hunt.
Aside from the few decor items, Wes and I have decided not to do too much to this room because we are in the process of building a new house that will hopefully be done by the first of next year. I really feeling the nesting urge so I wanted to have something done for our boy, but don’t want to go all out until we are in our more permanent space. I already feel guilty for making Wes paint a room that baby Reese will live in for all of 3 months and don’t want to add to his already long to-do list. So you can get an idea of what I’m thinking end game, those amazing blue drapes shown above are definitely on my list for the new house. They are simply stunning and really pull the room together. I can’t wait to show you guys the progress. I’ll be doing a before and after post on the room once we get it all settled so be on the lookout for that.
