The end of summer is a sad time for me. I’m a proud “summer bird” and live for longer days, time outside with my boys, and spontaneous trips to the beach. The only thing that eases the pain is the start of college football. This week marks the first (of 12) posts in a new Always the Host series to help you plan a more fabulous tailgate. In this series, you’ll find a uniquely styled tailgate that you can replicate or use as inspiration to plan your own unique game day experience – starting with an Appalachian State tailgate.
I’m so excited to combine two of my favorite things: entertaining + football in a series that shows how we tailgate here in the south. It’s a way of life and if you know, you know. If you don’t, keep reading and stay with me this season as I style 12 tailgates for 12 different teams. What makes it special?
My goal throughout this series is to share ways to make your tailgate special to and for you and to help you stand out from the crowd. When I started thinking about this series and all the things that I love, Even Tide Pennant Co. was the very first thing that came to mind. Allison is a Charleston based mama and business woman that makes these incredibly unique pennants. While she markets her skills for babys, kids and school milestones, her talents extend to pretty much anything idea you can think of (as long as it fits in the space). I found her online right when she was getting started and ordered two pennants for Wally + Brooks. Since the product is fully customizable, I simply swapped kid names and favorite colors for teams + collegiate colors. Pay attention each week as you see the unique and fun pennants we designed together. If you want your tailgate, at home watch party or sport themed event to really pop, add a custom pennat from ETPC!
The other item I sourced for my Appalachian State tailgate are these incredibly gorgeous cocktail napkins from Carolina Linen. Jill, the shop owner, had originally posted a set of clemson tiger napkins that I loved so much. Her designs are truly unique, yet still on brand for the team and the classy vibe I sought after. After a few messages back and forth, she created the the best designs and even found a way to pop a monogram “R” in the pipe smoke. It is my FAVORITE detail on this set. I highly recommend checking out her selection and even inquiring about what can be made for your team.

Because my love of fashion still runs deep, and because in the south we wear dresses to football games, I’ll also be sharing 1-3 shopable game day looks that you can use.
