Good Morning Loves!!! It feels like it has been forever since my last post. I’m sorry for the spontaneous hiatus but with two big trips back to back, time and posts just got away from me. It was so great to get away and out of the office for a while but it feels so good to be home and back in a routine and of course blogging again. I can’t wait to share all the awesome pictures and adventures I had in Europe. I am just starting the process of gathering all the pictures that were snapped by 5 or so cameras that my family and I took on our trip. In the meantime, I’m finally sharing some outfits from my California Trip in May. The weather out West was much cooler than I anticipated and totally different than the hot & humid climate of the South. I packed several light jackets (like this one) and boy am I glad I did. Layers were my friend and although I packed several, once the sun went down it just didn’t seem like enough.
This combo was one of my favorites. The jacket and the tank are both really light weight and relatively thin so they didn’t take up much room in my suitcase, but still gave that cool, laid-back Cali vibe. I paired them with my favorite and I mean favorite Levi’s Boyfriend Jeans and some metallic espadrilles that were chic and comfy for all the walking and tourist-y things I did on my visit. I am usually a sandal snob in the summer. Comfort is my song and I sing it for 3 months straight, but this year I have found myself defaulting to the espadrilles. There are so many awesome options and they pair perfectly with jeans, dresses and shorts. Don’t get me wrong, I am still all about my sandals, but you just can’t go wrong with a few espadrilles sprinkled in.
This yellow woven straw clutch is probably my favorite part of this outfit. Whenever I go on trips to places I’ve never been, I always try to pick up something unique. I love vintage things and things that have a story: like a cool shop that it came from or purchasing it after a crazy adventurous day that I’ll never forget. Well, this sweet canary clutch was my gem from CA (don’t worry I’ve linked dupes and other great ones below). I got lucky in finding it pretty early in my trip. My mother-in-law and I were exploring Redondo Beach and came across this great vintage shop. We walked in and chatted with the owner and as I was browsing, I found this bag tucked behind a few other sparkly ones. I was kind of on the fence about it until the owner started telling me that the clutch was recently used in a fashion show for the Make A Wish Foundation. A local girl had put in her wish to be on Project Runway. Her mom, friend to the owner, wanted all the show items to come from her store. The young girl chose the clutch among other items to be used in the fashion show with Heidi Klum & all the PR crew. It was the sweetest story and after that I knew it was my treasure. I love the bright color and how it adds just the right pop of brightness to my summer wardrobe.
